Greetings from the Belleville, IL. Diocese's
Ministry To Sick and Aged

Since July 12, 1974, we have had the privilege to minister to and with some very special people: patients of Belleville's Memorial Hospital, Belleville area nursing homes, and their Staffs. In recent years this Ministry has continued to grow, now including not only ministry to the sick and dying and our Eders in long-term care facilities, but also persons with disabilities, bereavement ministry, as well as providing a variety of educational opportunities in each of these areas.

What follows here will give you an overview of this Ministry, where we've been and where we are now, and in some cases our dreams of where we hope to go in the years ahead.

I wish to acknowledge with gratitude all the individuals and organizations who have supported this Ministry from its beginning. Bishops Zuroweste, Cosgrove, Schlarman, Wurm, Keleher, Gregory and Braxton have each shown their continuing support. We and those we have served are truly grateful.

We are also grateful to the many Staff and Advisory Board Members who have served us over the years.

Now in our fourth decade of service, the Ministry to Sick & Aged (MSA) continues to provide the same quality of ministry to the People of God for which it was founded, while at the same time turning our attention to the ever "graying" Church and our ministerial response to that new Church.

The pages ahead will detail the history of the MSA since our beginning on July 12, 1974.

May God bless each and every one of you wherever life's journey may take us. May we continue to be a Living Christ to our Elders, the infirmed, persons with disabilities and the bereaved.

"Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be.
... Youth shows but half;
Trust God,
See all, Nor be afraid... "
(Robert Browning)

Peace,
